Bytes People Solutions Offers 3-in-1 Introductory IT Course For School Leavers In South Africa

Posted on 01:45 by Unknown

Professional provider of talent management services, Bytes People Solutions’ (Durban branch), is offering a special six-week introductory IT course for school leavers, commencing end of January 2013.

The workshop comprises three Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) certifications: CompTIA Strata, CompTIA A+, and CompTIA Network+.

“This is the first time we are offering these certifications to school leavers,” says Wayne Smith, branch manager, Durban, Bytes People Solutions. “Together, they provide an excellent foundation for young people who have an interest in becoming IT professionals. Also, the student market is under-serviced by reputable providers. Because Bytes People Solutions provides internationally accredited education, training and skills development, those who sign up for the package can be assured that they are receiving top-quality IT education delivered by certified trainers who are among the best in the country.”

The CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certificate programme offers a broad introduction to computing technology and serves as a critical stepping stone to advanced technical learning and IT skills. The exam measures knowledge of basic IT terminology and skills, such as setting up a basic PC work station, installing software, identifying compatibility issues, and recognising and preventing basic security risks.

The CompTIA A+ certification is the starting point for a career in IT. The exam covers maintenance of PCs, mobile devices, laptops, operating systems and printers.

The CompTIA Network+ certification is the sign of a qualified networking professional. The exam covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security. Candidate job roles include network administrator, network technician, network installer, help desk technician and IT cable installer.

“Typically, these courses are offered individually and are held over a week,” says Smith. “By offering them as a package, we are making it possible for school leavers to truly assess whether a career in IT will interest them and if they have the aptitude for it. In addition, because we are running it over six weeks, they will benefit from the focus on efficiency and detail, which they are unlikely to get from a shorter course. It’s a great starting point, and the knowledge acquired by participants will be of benefit to them throughout their careers.”

Bytes services include an assessment centre, content development, online technologies, people consulting, softskills development and ICT learning solutions. As a member of the Bytes Technology Group, Bytes People Solutions is a leader in skills development and a trusted advisor to a large number of organisations in South Africa as well as Africa.
